With Lackey Out Aceves is in

The Red Sox John Lackey was placed on the DL on Wednesday. He was just recovering from a 18 month injury which had fully recovered over the off-season. His first trip to the mound in 18 months just turned out to be his last for a while, he injured the same arm as before just this time it's less serious, he strained his right bicep.

His replacement is Alfredo Aceves he is a former Yankee reliever and has been changing into a starter and now this could be his big break. He will pitch in place of the injured Lackey until his return or Aceves's injury if he were to have one.

Aceves's first start will be on Thursday which would have been Lackey's spot in the rotation.

In the year 2011 he was Boston's set up man for their former closer Jonathon Papelbon. He had 11 holds, 10 wins, and 1 loss that year, with an ERA of 2.61 that was by far his best year as a pitcher in the Majors!

  1. The injurys just keep piling up throughout the MLB....it's got to be hard on these guys who seem so injury prone.....they spend as much time on the DL or rehabing as they do actually being able to play the game.
