Tebow and the Beef

The former Jet quarterback, Tim Tebow, was offered a joh to play for the indoor football Omaha Beef. The job would pay $75 per game.

He was offered the job a day after Tebow lost his job at New York. The Beef called Jimmy Sexton, Tebow's agent, and said the job is his if he wants it.

The current quarterback of the Beef, James McNear, completed 70% of his passes and threw 21 touchdowns. He also said that Tebow could learn a lot from him.

Kings Shall Stay

The Sacramento Kings weren't able to make the playoffs, and were about to move to Seattle, Washington. The Brooklyn Nets moved to Brooklyn this season and had one of the best seasons in the franchises' history. The Kings didn't have a very impressive season and were hoping that moving will help.

Now, news has been released that the Sacramento Kings will be staying. The NBA has voted for them to stay in Sacramento, California. I personally think that moving to Seattle would have been better for the league and the Kings. There used to be a franchise, the Seattle Super Sonics, but they moved to Oklahoma City. If the Kings moved it would put Seattle back on the map. Many people were executed for the Kings to move. There are also other teams in the state of California. There are the LA Lakers, LA Clippers, and the
Golden State Warriors.

The Kings can only do one thing: Hope the 2013-2014 season starts quickly. If the Kings get a good start next season, it could change their whole franchise. I am hoping to see the Kings bring in an outside shooter who can also bring the ball up the court. By Ameen I.

The Jets

The Jets have a large quarterback situation with five different quarterbacks and one that was released. Sadly for him, Tim Tebow and legend to this generation has been released to free agency and Mark Sanchez, Matt Simmons, Greg McElroy, David Garrard, and Geno Smith were kept.

The quarterbacks are all competing for the top spot at the QB position in Rex Ryans book. Ryan is the coach and many don't think he should be due to his poor judgement.

The best quarterback here in my book is Greg McElroy who proved himself last year like Tebow had with the Broncos, McElroy only got to play a couple games though when Mark Sanchez struggled.

Geno Smith is the worst in my book, he couldn't lead a good team of West Virginia Mountaineers to bowl win against the Syaracuse Orange in the Pinstripe Bowl. Also, he only had a 7-6 record with West Virginia this year.

L.T: Wanted

The San Diego Chargers former running back LaDanian Tomlinson has been requested to play another season for his former team. Tomlinson retired only a year ago and is now thinking of playing another, he said that it was very hard to retire and it would be harder to come back. So, he is thinking that is unlikely for him to return.

It is very clear to me why the Chargers would want him back though, he is their all-time leading rusher. He ran for 12,490 yards with the San Diego Chargers.

Tom Telesco the San Diego Chargers General Manager and their first year coach Mike McCoy approached him at the NFL Scouting Combine and asked him to be on the 2013 team. The 34-year-ild Tomlinson told Yahoo! sports that he never seriously considered playing for the Chargers.

LeBron Carries Heat to a Clean Sweep

The Miami Heat have swept the Milwaukee Bucks. They have won the first four games of the first round seven game series and the Heat will advance to play in the second round against an unknown team. It will either be the Knicks or the Celtics.

Ray Allen and LeBron James took control for the Heat and were knocking down shots left and right. James had 30 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Allen had 7 rebounds and 16 points to put the Heat into the second round.

Monta Ellis and Larry Sanders did their best to keep their Bucks in this game when the Heat were running away with it. Ellis had 21 points and 8 assists his big man Sanders had 7 points, but a bigtime 11 rebounds.

Even if the Bucks stayed alive and won this game they would still have to win 3 more after this in a row against the best team in the NBA. Their odds of coming back from 3-0 is so small it has never been done before in all of the seven game series sports.

Ruiz Back From Suspension

Carlos Ruiz of the Philadelphia Phillies has missed the whole month of April serving a suspension due to amphetamine. The suspension was only 25 games instead of the average 50 game one.

The drug makes him hyper and keeps him ready and going. This drug is on the MLB's performance enhancing drug.

The team truely missed their 2012 .325 hitter and great catcher behind the plate. Also, he made the All-star game winning National League.

Humberto Quintero filled in for the suspended Ruiz at catcher, Erik Kratz also helped out behind the plate. His return is scheduled for today (Sunday) and he is going to bat fifth as usual.

Late Round Quarterbacks

Rounds 4 and 5 of the NFL Draft was filled to the brim with surprises, such as Ryan Nassib of Syracuse was picked by the New York Giants to be a backup for Eli Manning.  Nassib will not get much playing time there, because Manning has started 135 straight regular season games and counting.

Matt Barkley was taken in the fourth round as well as Nassib, Barkley played at USC and is now an Eagle. The Eagles coughed up quite a bit of dough for this pick number 98. They are giving him a signing bonus of $500,000 and a four year contract for 10 million dollars.

Another good fourth rounder was Landry Jones a quarterback at Oklahoma, he went at pick  number 115 to the Steelers. Jones threw for over 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns last year and will make a great backup for (Big) Ben Roethlisberger. He may even replace him like Rodgers did for Farve after a few years on the bench.

In the fifth round the Jacksonville Jaguars went after the NCAA's rushing leader for a quarterback and a great wildcat quarterback Denard Robinson. Robinson played quarterback at Michigan for four years and ended up even playing a little bit of running back as well. He doesn't have the best arm in the world, but he can run at the quarterback position and at the running back position. This is considered a steal for the Jags' considering how much their offense needs help.

Who do you think was the best quarterback taken out of these late round picks.

Draft

The NFl Draft so far has taken some unexpected turns. For example, the New York Jets waited until the second round and 39th overall pick to take projected first rounder Geno Smith of West Virginia. Also, The Eagles took Zach Eartz a tight end from Stanford to add to their receiving core instead of a quarterback that they desperately need.

Another example is Manti Te'o taken in the second round at pick number 28 overall and he went to the Chargers. Robert Woods who is a great wide receiver for Matt Barkley and the USC Trojans went to the Bills at pick number 41.

The draft is still on ESPN so turn it on!

Larkin Enters Draft

The Basketball Hall of Fame member Barry Lakin's son Shane Larkin a possible Hall of Fame member himself has entered the NBA Draft and is skipping his junior and senior years of college at Miami University.

Larkin is a highly likely first round draft pick, but is he missing out on another great season at miami. Since Durand Scott, Kenny Kadji, and Trey McKinney-Jones are still in the line-up could Shane Larkin lead that team to a championship as they were predicted to have this year? Now we will never find out if he could really do it and live up to the hype.

Larkin averaged 14.5 points, 4.6 assists and 2.3 turnovers per game, and lead the Hurricanes to a predictable ACC regular-season and tournament championship. Also, an appearance as a number 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Where will Lakin go in the draft? I think Larkin will be a mid first round draft pick and go to the Mavericks or the Jazz. Hoe about you express your opinion in the comments.

Barry Bonds Plaque Goes Missing

The plaque honoring Barry Bonds' 756th home run has gone missing from AT&T Park in San Fransisco, California.

"We're in the process of replacing it," Staci Slaughter, the Giants Spokeswoman said. "We're not sure what happened. We're reviewing video, but haven't found anything yet."

There is still white glue on the brick wall where the plaque used to be in the reigning World Series Champion Giants Ball Park.

The plaque in all represents the August day that Bonds broke Hank Aaron's home run record of 755. That was also, Bonds' last season so he ended his career with 762 homers,  sadly that title of Home Run King might have an asterisk next to it in the record books due to his supposed steroid use. That is also the reason I think it was stolen, most likley the man or woman who stole it thought that he shouldn't have a plaque saying he is the Home Run King if he took steroids.

I have to say I agree that he shouldn't be the Home Run King if he took steroids and players like Aaron and Ruth didn't. I still hope the plaque is returned to the rightful owner though.

Doc Rivers Fined

The Coach of the NBA's Boston Celtics, Doc Rivers, has been fined 25k for criticizing referees publicly, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson announced on Thursday.

After the Celtics center, Kevin Garnett, ran into foul trouble during Tuesday's Game 2 loss, earning two whistles in an 18-second span early in the first quarter. Rivers showed his displeasure with the officiating in a post-game news conference.

He said in his words that "I thought the fouls on Kevin were horrendous and had a huge effect on us." This was said during the postgame news conference that he was given the fine for after the game 2 loss to the Knicks.

The Celtics have just dug them selves into a 2-0 deficit in their series with the Knicks. How do you think their playoff season will pan out! Post in the comments!

Dodgers Lose Another Pitcher

The Los Angeles Dodgers have list one of their best starting pitchers for the whole season due to Tommy John Surgery. The pitcher is Chad Billingsley and he won't just ruin this season, but it will take up a large chunk of his 2014 season.

Billingsley had an option, either undergo elbow surgery in September, but opted out for rehabilitation and received an injection of platelet-rich plasma. Billingsley was on the disabled list for elbow inflammation three times in the past year.

The elbow hadn't hurt all spring training and through his first three starts this year, but by his most recent game the pain came back. He had an MRI and it proved that Chad Billingsley had a torn ligament.

The Dodgers started their season off with eight solid veteran starting pitchers, but are now missing half of them due to injuries to Billingsley, Zack Greinke and Chris Capuano, and Aaron Harang being traded. This will be a tough season!

Brown Excepts Offer

Mike Brown agreed to reunite with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he hasn't played there since Lebron was there and all of his five seasons LeBron took him to the play-offs. That might not happen this time around.

Brown will be payed 20 million dollars for a five season deal, this time it might be hard to coach a team with out any star quality. Kyrie Irving shows potential and so does Dion Waters, but there has been competition for that point guard spot and there is not dough that it is Irvings.

The first time around, Brown was fired after the Cavs' lost to Boston in the 2010 Eastern Conference semifinals, shortly before James decided to leave Cleveland as a free agent.

"I'm happy for him, very happy for him," James said Tuesday before Game 2 of the Heat's first-round series against Milwaukee. "I think he's a really good coach, very defensive-minded coach. It'll be good for the young guys that they have."

I have to agree with LeBron, Mike Brown is a great coach to have and he has proven that and he might just turn around the Cavaliers for next season.

Paul George Records Triple Double As Pacers Skip Past the Hawks

The Indiana Pacers started this season as one of the predicted worst teams in the East. They have practically shut those people up and said we can play better than anybody else, they ended the Heats win streak and they beat them before that too. They can play.

They showed the Hawks that with Paul George getting a triple-double which was his first ever in the playoffs and,
the rest of the starting line-up for the Pacers had 10 or more points. I don't know where to start with this talented team, Paul George had 12 assists, 13 rebounds, and 23 points. Then, they have David West with 9 rebounds and 13 points, and you can't leave out Roy Hibbert who had 8 rebounds and 16 points.

The Hawks couldn't keep a pace with the Pacers (pund intended). As usual the unpredictable Hawks were "lead" by the same people Al Horford, Josh Smith, and Jeff Teague, Teague had 21 points and 7 assists for the Hawks. Smith had 15 points and 8 rebounds at forward, while at center Horford only had 6 rebounds and 14 points.

The Pacers have just as big of a chance as any as they take this one by 17 points, 107-90. This is your team to watch out for.

Nuggets Take One at Home

Andre Miller and Wilson Chandler of the Denver Nuggets pave the way to an exciting start to the play-offs. The Nuggets were outscored by 4 points at the half and they took off from there taking a 2 point lead to finish with and a 1-0 start to their series with the Warriors.

Andre Miller had 28 and 5 assists leading in points for all players this game, Chandler only had 11 points, but backed that number up with 13 rebounds for a double-double. Also for the Nuggets another Andre had a great game, Andre Iguodala had a near double-double with 8 points and 10 rebounds for his Nuggets.

The Warriors were playing on what seemed like all cylinders, their big men David Lee and Andrew Bogut both had at least 9 points and exactly 14 rebounds. Their shooters Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry both had 18 or more points, Thompson with 22 and Curry with 19. Also, their ball handlers Curry and Jarret Jack couldn't be stopped with Curry adding 9 assists to his stat sheet and Jack had a 10 assists and 10 points game off the bench.

The thing that really put this game away was a last second lay-up by Andre Miller that put the Nuggets up by two after being outscored 31-24 in the first 11:58 minutes of the fourth quarter, Miller made it  31-26 in the entire fourth quarter. Making the final score 97-95 Nuggets on top.

Boston Come Back

The Boston Bombing suspect had been taken into custody and if he wasn't authorities said that he would have bleed out and died from most likely being shot in the shoot out that killed his brother.
It has been discovered that he went to a party the day before the marathon and acted normal. This has been confirmed by people at the party who were peers or associates of the mass murderer.

The sports world in Boston is benefiting from the capture of the prime suspect and almost indefinitely the bomber. Their spots such as the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red Sox home games will be played today and everything is supposed to go from chaos one day to business as usual the next.

"Watching those claps and cheers," Shane Victorino of the Boston Red Sox said, "and now to take the field in front of those same people and fans, to see the joyfulness and happiness brought out, that makes today a special day for me."

The former career Phillie, Victorino means that he will go back to nornal and play his heart out, not just for a manager but for the fans that fill the seats at Fenway Park.

More News on Bombings

ESPN.com The Boston Marathon Bombings story is still breaking as we speak and currently the suspect is held up in a boat inside somebodys back yard. The building is surrounded by authorities and they sent a rover with a camera in to see if their are any bombs or explosives. Then, the situation took a turn for the worst when two explosions detonated and gun shots were fired, they are not currently known who detonated the explosions, it could be a flash bomb sent by the police or a bomb made by the terrorist. There will be more news coming out with this fast breaking story! By David B.

Boston Manhunt Possibly Postpones Game

With a manhunt on in Boston for a man who is thought to be the man who put the bombs and detonated them at the Boston Marathon the Red Sox game against the Royals has not been decided if it will be played. The man is thought to be one of the men at the shoot out yesterday.

“With the Red Sox last night, they were really looking forward to doing their small part in helping this town heal,” ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes says in a SportsCenter clip. Sadly the Red Sox game may be postponed and they won't have that chance.

Hopefully the police will catch the bombers and Boston will happily ever after!

FGCU Hires New Coach

The team of used to be nobodies and now a well known name around the world, FGCU (Florida Gulf Coast) has hired a new coach. After Brett Comer and Sherwood Brown took them farther than any other 15 seed has gone in the tournament, the Sweet Sixteen they had a little bit more money for their basketball program and they hired a new coach.

The coach is Joe Dooley, he is a former assistant coach from KU (Kansas University) he has been an assistant to Bill Self, himself for almost ten years now. In that time, the Kansas Jayhawks produced 300 wins, 9 straight Big 12 titles and 6 Big 12 tournament championships. They've reached the round of 16 six times, 5 Elite Eight trips and 2 Final Fours. They won the tournament in 2008.

The Royals Stop Streak

An interesting thing about the Atlanta Braves season so far is that they have only lost at home and they haven't lost on the road. Their second loss of the year was to the Kansas City Royals and it was a nail biter as the Royals snapped the Braves 10 game win streak.

The Braves didn't score the whole game and for 7 straight of those they were shut down by Wade Davis who earned his second win. The next 2 innings for the Royals pitching staff was split in half one inning for Kelvin Herrera in the eighth who got his third hold. In the ninth it was Greg Hollands turn who earned his third close in the Royals 1-0 win over the Braves.

The hard part for the Braves starter Mike Minor is that he pitched great only allowing one run, but his team couldn't put up runs and he got the loss making his record 2-1. In fact that was the only run of the game and it was a single to left Jeff Francour and it scored Alcedes Escobar.

The Hitter of The Game

The "hitter of the game" was most definitely Lorrenzo Cain of the Royals, he only got out once in his 4 at bats with 3 hits and that was the most hits of the day. I sound a lot like Billy Beane from MoneyBall, but it's because he gets on base and I like that about him he is one of my surprise players of the year.

Gallardo Arrested for DUI

The Milwaukee County Sheriff, Fran McLaughlin told ESPN that Yovani Gallardo has $778 in fines for drunken driving and for unsafe driving. Authorities say a breath test revealed a blood-alcohol level of 0.22 which is only .02 less than 3 times the legal limit of .08.

Although he Gallardo was very cooperative says McLaughlin he did has to bring him in for admitting he had a few beers. Also, he was found driving alone at 40 mph in a 55-mph zone and he was swerving from lane to lane at 2:00 AM.

The Brewers pitcher Gallardo isn't doing so hot pitching either with a ERA of 6.61 and a record of 0-1 after his first three starts. His Brewers are also last in their NL Central Division with a 3-8 record.

Berkman Trash Talks Wrigley Field

Lance Berkman of the Texas Rangers claims that he does not like Wrigley Field and was not impressed with it.

He even said "It's one of the worst places in baseball for, well, just about anything," to the Dallas Morning News.

"I want to compare it to Fenway," second baseman Ian Kinsler told the Dallas Morning News. "I love playing at Fenway. The history is part of that, but I think it's the atmosphere that really makes those places special. There is a great atmosphere. I've heard about all the other things, like that there are no cages, no weight rooms and that the walk to the field isn't that pleasant. But I'm excited. I don't know if the weather will change anything."

I have to say that I agree that it is a rugged and sort ugly field, but that field has more history than almost any other. I hate to see that Wrigley field was being trash talked!

Braves Third Straight Sweep

The Braves have taken three out of three games from the Washington Nationals, that is their third straight sweep and they haven't lost a series yet. They just swept the Marlins in the series before they played the Nationals and they are on fire with a first place 11-1 record as the Nats drop to 7-5.

The Braves Evan Gattis continues his hot streak with a batting average of .324, 4 homers, and 10 RBI's. He had 1 hit and 2 RBI's this game, Atlanta's B.J Upton had a 3-5 day with 2 runs scored out of the lead-off spot, and the Braves Chris Johnson with a 4-5 day and 2 RBI's.

The Nationals had a terrible day in all with 2 errors and only 4 hits, half of their hits were courtesy of Kurt Suzuki who went 2-3. Chad Tracy were the only other 2 players with hits and they were pinch hitters! This was a sad day for the Nationals as they lost 9-0 being shut out!

The win went to the Braves Paul Maholm who now is 3-0 on the season and the loss was Gio Gonzalez's who gave up 7 runs compared to Maholm's no earned runs in 7.2 innings.

Bulls Missing More

The Chicago Bulls guard Richard Hamilton had been suspended for one game and it's Sundays against the Heat so they will need all their best players for this next one.

Hamilton was ejected with 5:33 left in the third quarter after elbowing the Raptors' DeMar DeRozan in the face. He was given a flagrant-2 foul for the physical hit on DeRozan. This just makes it even more frusterating for Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau after already missing Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson and now they are missing their veteran guard Richard Hamilton.

How do you think the Bulls season will pan out, play-offs or not? I am going to say, no chance they are making the play-offs with all of their stars out with injuries! Thats my opinion  whats yours, post some feedback in the comments box!

Trey Burke Enters Draft

Michigan Freshman, Trey Burke has decided to do what many others have and that is join the NBA draft. He will be a lottery pick and could very well go in the top 5 or top 10 picks, because he won the wooden award and he has great talent and works well with his coached.

He has had a great season with an average or 18.7 points and 6.7 assists per game. Also, he averaged 1.5 steals per game. He even lead his Michigan Wolverines in points and assists. He had some good competition for those spots to.

If that isn't enough to be a top pick then taking his to the championship game and making a buzzer beater to get there should be. He will definetely be a top pick and make a team and coach lucky to have him!

Jose Reyes Goes Down

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired one of the most dynamic base runners in the game of baseball over the off-season, Jose Reyes. Sadly, he has been carted off of the field after sliding into second base and he seams to be badly injured. One scenario is that he will be back in only 4 weeks with a sprained left anke. The other is...
"The other scenario could be three months, or if something comes up we're not expecting, it could be more than that," Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said late Friday night.

This will be a big problem for the Blue Jays this year because they put a heck of a team together out of nothing, but some raw talent and a lot of money. So to see this start to crumble with the biggest man of all going down is just sad to see. Hopefully the other new members like R.A Dickey, Melky Cabrera, Jose Bautista, and Emilio Bonafacio can keep their team alive without their shortstop.

Yankees Turn 3

This is a must see Youtube video of the New York Yankees getting a triple play on the Orioles. The Orioles Muchado hits a ground ball to Robinson Cano at second base who flips it to the replacement shortstop who throws to Youkilis at third who then fires it across the diamond to first base where the first baseman and Cano catch to batter in a run down. That all happened in one play. By David B.

A Bombers NEW Injury

The Yankees veteran pitcher, Andy Pettitte was experiencing back spasms lately and they started during the Bombers game against the Baltimore Orioles. Pettitte did throw 7 innings of one run ball that game and he played great.

The bad part is it has gotten to the point where he has had his start moved back. He will pitch on Tuesday or Wedensday against Arizona the official date has not been assigned to Pettitte.

"I would love to just go out there and try to pitch, and I'll get through it like I got through it in Cleveland," Pettitte mentioned to reporters before the Yankees faced the Baltimore Orioles. "They're not going to allow me to do it with an opportunity to push me back several days."

Pettitte's Yankees are having a decent season with a record 4-4 and they have won 3 straight, but it may be hard to continue with all of their injuries and new ones adding on.

Durant Fined 25k

On Thursday night the Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant made a great dunk and his celebration was to pretend to slice his throat. It was called a 'menacing gesture' and he was fined 25k for this simple act of celebration. I think that he should not have been fined 25k for something as small as that, but it wasn't just that.

Durant made the dunk after Russell Westbrook made a block on Stephen Curry and Durant corralled the ball and took it to the other end of the floor for a monsterous dunk. He then made a slice motion across his neck and then crossed his hands in prayer. The thing that really set off the media and the fans was what he said.

"Kill 'em and pray for 'em after the game," Durant said.

That is what I call unacceptable, if he had just kept it at that simple gesture he probably wouldn't have been fined, but the words are what set people off.

Carrasco Running With the Law

The Cleveland Indian's ,Carlos Carrasco, just simply can't stay out of trouble, in two years he has been suspended for intentionally hitting a batter. Sadly for the Yankees they are being beat up enough, but this time it was Kevin Youkilis.

His first victim was in 2011 and it was Billy Butler who was hit, he served 5 games for that. This time it was on Tuesday and his penalty was just decided to be an 8 game suspension due to this being his second offense.

The Indians manager ,Terry Francona, said he believed his pitcher that he didn't do it, but also acknowledged the fact that it didn't look good and understood that the Yankees were upset. The Yankees did end up winning 14-1 in a blowout and the Bombers have been getting by without most of their talent, Derek Jeter, Mark Texiera, Curtis Granderson, and Alex Rodriguez. They do still have Cano and his presence was made known with a 2 run homer off of Carrasco before his early game ejection.

Greinke out With Collarbone Injury

Carlos Quentin a two year in a row and counting champion for getting hit with a pitch. He has been hit 43 times in the past 2 years and 3 times by Zach Greinke, but when the third one came around yesterday Quenton got mad. He charges the mound and wrestled Greinke to the ground.

Greinke had been found to have a broken collarbone after the 3-2 pitch to Quentin came across the plate to Quentin's shoulder.

I never hit him on purpose," said Greinke, who had his left arm in a sling and appeared shaken after the game. "I never thought about hitting him on purpose. He always seems to think that I'm hitting him on purpose, but that's not the case. That's all I can really say about it."

The coach of the Dodgers, Don Mattingly, said in one word what Quentin's actions were, and he said what he did was stupid and you honestly can't argue with that. I have one question for my readers, what would you have done in Quentin's shoes?

The Braves Grab the Broom

The Atlanta Braves have just taken their second sweep of the year after taking 2-3 from the Phillies. They just took the Miami Marlins down 8-0 in the final game of the sweep. This would leave the Braves with a first place NL East spot and an 8-1 record.

The Braves didn't have much help from the front of their line-up except for their replacement catcher Erik Gattis in his rookie year. Gattis hit a homerun on his first of the season and he has hit one in the past 2 games against the Marlins. He went 2-4 today and he had 3 RBI's, and his third homerun of the season.

As for the Marlins, their biggest player was their new third baseman and a career .300 hitter, Placido Polanco. Polanco had a 2-4 day with obviously no RBI's because his whole team didn't have any.

The starting pitchers today were Alex Sanabia for the Marlins who gave up 6 earned runs on 8 hits in 5 innings pitched. Mike Minor pitched for the Braves and he gave up 0 runs in his 5.2 innings and he gave up only 5 hits to the Marlins. He also, got a win today and Minor is now 2-0 on the season. The loss went to the Marlin's Alex Sanabia who is 1-1 on the short, developing season.

NBA Draft Entries

The NBA Draft is soon coming up and some unknown players are entering. Cody Zeller, Victor Oladipo, and Phil Pressey have all announced that they are retiring from their college basketball careers to move to the NBA, ever basketball players dream.

Cody Zeller is the second rank center and overall he is ranked 10th, the only better center to me is Mason Plumlee. He will be a big lottery pick considering his amazing stats this year. He is 7 feet tall and he lead his Indiana Hoosiers with 16.5 points and 8.1 rebounds as averages. His teammate Victor Oladipo will also enter the draft.

Oladipo is also predicted to be a lottery pick considering he was the runner up and a very close second in for the Wooden Award falling short of Trey Burke. This year he averaged 13.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.2 steals. He is also a 6-5 forward finishing his junior year.

The final player that I will mention is Phil Pressey the point guard and best player on the Missouri Tigers. Phil Pressey is a 5-11 guard from Dallas, who averaged 11.9 points, 7.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game leading his Tigers. He will  miss his senior year at Missou to play in the NBA, and I wish him good luck!

The Red Sox John Lackey was placed on the DL on Wednesday. He was just recovering from a 18 month injury which had fully recovered over the off-season. His first trip to the mound in 18 months just turned out to be his last for a while, he injured the same arm as before just this time it's less serious, he strained his right bicep.

His replacement is Alfredo Aceves he is a former Yankee reliever and has been changing into a starter and now this could be his big break. He will pitch in place of the injured Lackey until his return or Aceves's injury if he were to have one.

Aceves's first start will be on Thursday which would have been Lackey's spot in the rotation.

In the year 2011 he was Boston's set up man for their former closer Jonathon Papelbon. He had 11 holds, 10 wins, and 1 loss that year, with an ERA of 2.61 that was by far his best year as a pitcher in the Majors!

Weaver out for 4 Weeks

ESPN.com The Los Angeles Angels star pitcher Jared Weaver has been placed on the DL with a fractured elbow, he is expected to miss 4 weeks.

The NCAA Champs Are...

The Louisville Cardinals and Michigan Wolverines were the teams to play in the final game of the season, the NCAA Championship. The Cardinals won the Big East and gave their all to win it all as well, and they did by a score of 82-76.

The Wolverines Spike Albrecht wasn't even recognized as a player by the security at the game. The security had to get somebody to identify him and this turned out to be the best game of his life so far. He was 4-5 on 3 pointers and had 17 points in his large 28 minutes. Trey Burke also performed awesome for his Wolverines. He had 24 points this game as well as 3 steals and 4 rebounds.

The Cardinals had quite a game with Chane Behanan playing for 12 rebounds and 15 points. On top of that Peyton Siva had about the best game of the season for him with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Even Luke Hankock pitched in again with 22 points leading all scorers this game!

The Louisville Cardinals are the NCAA champions and that just tops off coach Rick Pitino's week with this and being inducted to the hall of fame!

Brewers Out Braun In

The Milwaukee Brewers have missed their star for the past 3 games with Ryan Braun out, since then they have lost ever game they played. Their total record on the year is 1-5 with their only win coming on Opening Day to the Colorado Rockies in 10 innings.

He was out due to pretty odd neck spasms and he didn't return until today (Monday). Milwaukee also is missing third baseman Aramis Ramirez, who went on the disabled list Saturday with a sprained left knee, and first baseman Corey Hart, expected to miss the first month of the season recovering from right knee surgery. This is going to be very hard for the Brewers to get much done offensively and defensively.

That isn't the only damage to their team though, they are also missing there shortstop Jean Segura. He was injured when he was slid into by Gerardo Parra of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The injury has not been identified as a specific injury though. As you can see these Brewers are going to have a hard time getting by with out all these players!

Red Sox History is About to be Made- With about 5 more feet.

The Boston Red Sox completely routed the Blue Jays while their own Will Middlebrooks hits three homers and one just shy of the fence. If it had gone over the fence he would be the first Red sock to hit 4 in one game. Jon Lester pitched 7 scoreless innings for a win, and their whole team hit triple of what they have hit in the first 6 games of the season.

The Sox have not played at home yet, until today with a 13-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, now that says welcome home louder than anything else, and another plus is that the Sox have just upgraded their record to 4-2 and they are in first place in their AL East.

Middlebrooks who hit 3 homers is only 24 years old, and he is the 26th Red Sock to that many in a single game. He is also the third third baseman to do it and Bill Mueller and Jim Tabor were the only other third base sox to do it.

I think that the Red Sox future this season is not first place, but not quite last either definitely somewhere in the middle.

Freeman, on the DL

The Atlanta Braves have placed Freddie Freeman on the DL for a strained right oblique on Sunday.

This was not very noticeable with Freeman hitting .417, with 7 RBI's, and a homer in five games. He is even off to what I think is a better start than first baseman for the Tigers Price Fielder, Fielder is hitting .261, with 2 homers and 8 RBI's. The average part just really kills you when you swing for the fences every pitch. On top of that he has lead his Braves to a record of 5-1 and a first place standing in the NL East, while Fielder's Tigers are in third of the AL Central with a 3-3 record.

I think that the Braves need their first baseman back ASAP so they can get back on schedule. Apparently Freeman thinks so too because he was not happy to be placed on the DL after a killer start like his!

Boeheim's Not so Shiny Moment

The Championship game will be the Louisville Cardinals against the Michigan Wolverines, decided after yesterdays game between the Wolverines and the Syracuse Orange. The Orange were down by the largest half-time deficit they have faced all year long, 11 points. They made their run though tying the game, but they fell short in the end with a final score of 61-56.

The top performers this game were CJ Fair and Brandon Triche of Syracuse, and Mitch McGary of the Wolverines. McGary had 12 rebounds and 10 points at center with 6 assists. Triche had 11 points and 8 assists, while CJ had 22 points 6 rebounds. If it weren't for Triche fouling out on a arguable charge call the Orange might have pulled off the win. Because after a free throw the Orange were down 3 points with ball, but sadly in Trevor Cooney's hands, this was possibly the worst play ever drawn up by Boeheim. I have no Idea why he would want a 6-4 freshman that hardly plays to drive.

Maybe the Orange would have tied it with time expiring if the ball was in CJ Fairs hands, James Southerland, or even Jerami Grant's. That just isn't how it worked out and the Orange would lose in the Final Four in their first appearance since 2003, when Carmello Anthony and Gerry Mcnamara lead them to a championship. This time it's Michigans' time to try and win it all. So good luck to both competitors, Louisville and Michigan!

Shockers Can't Pull it off

The Wichita State Shockers had a double digit lead over the Louisville Cardinals at different parts of the game and in the second half they crumbled. They were outscored by only seven points, but with a half time score only one point apart they needed to be the team outscoring the Cardinals.

For once I can say truthfully that Russ Smith is not the leading scorer in this game. He met his match tonight, his name in Cleanthony Early who had 24 points and 10 rebounds, you should remember his name it might not be the last time you hear it.

Early's high scoring still wasn't enough because the Cards had two players with 20 or above, Luke Hancock with 20 and Russ Smith with 21. As for the Shockers, Ron Baker is a great kid and definitely a good basketball player. He had 11 points, 8 rebounds, and he is also one of the best freshman I've seen play this year.

Even though this team of up-setters is going home to Wichita, I think they are a great team, a threat, and a message seeds don't matter skill does. That is something this team has and so does Louisville, so congratulations Louisville for making it to the championship on Monday, and congratulations to the team that busted brackets around the nation!

Lackey Re-injures Arm

The once very talented pitcher John Lackey for the Boston Red Sox underwent elbow reconstruction surgery 17 months ago and hasn't played a game of baseball since. He got his first shot in nearly 1 1/2 years and he blew it. He re-injured the same right arm and is now on the DL.

It has been initially recognized as a right bicep strain, the official details of the injury will not be available until after his MRI in Boston on Sunday. The injury occurred today on a 2-2 pitch in Toronto to the Blue Jays' shortstop, Jose Reyes, the pitch was very wild and he immediately clutched the arm in pain.

Trainers and second baseman Dustin Pedroia were immediately at his side. We are all hoping he will be fine and make a full recovery, especially after injuring the arm previously.

The Wooden Award Winner is...

The Wooden Award was won by Trey Burke, who deserved it just as much as anybody else by taking his team to the final four. None of the other candidates did this. Also, he averages 19 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds.

He barely scraped out enough points to beat Victor Oladipo who was a very close second with 2,718 points compared to Burke's 2,808. Burke also has a record of 30-7 going into his game against the Syracuse Orange at 9:00 PM tonight. To get to this game he was faced with some hard battles, such as getting his team from down by 14 to a tie at the end of regulation. Plus, he was the man who made the jump shot to send that game against Kansas to OT.

Creighton's Doug McDermott finished third in the Wooden Award voting with a score of 2,344. Georgetown's Otto Porter and Gonzaga's Kelly Olynyk made the top five, Porter with 2,144 points, and Olynik with 2,079.

Who do you think will win tonight, Michigan or Syracuse? I think that since Michigan isn't used to a zone at all they won't be able to beat it and that the Orange men will beat another top team, like they did to Indiana and Marquette to get here. Post your opinion in the comments!

Pitino is Elected to the Hall of Fame

The Louisville Cardinals' head coach, Rick Pitino, has been elected to the 2013 Hall of Fame Class. Pitino won 662 games in his career as a college coach and he hopes to win two more in the NCAA Tournament as they will face the Wichita State Shockers, and if they win they will play Michigan or Syracuse.

This is Pitino's 7th Final Four appearance, and he is the first to take three colleges to the Final Four. John Calipari did this three times as well, but his trips with Massachusetts and Memphis didn't count due to infractions penalties.

The players joining him in the Naismith Hall of Fame this year include, Gary Payton a nine time NBA All-Star, Jerry Tarkanian who coached for UNLV, Guy Lewis a former Houston coach, and Spencer Haywood an Olympic and NBA Star.

Lights Out Lee

The Philadelphia Phillies' starting pitcher ,Cliff Lee, was the star of the show against the Braves. Lee Pitched 8 shut-out innings and then, Jonathon Papelbon took over and got the save while Lee got the win. The final score was 2-0 and both the runs scored by the Phils' came what I like to call the old-fashion way. They got a sacrifice fly and a fielder's choice that scored a run.

The fielder's choice was hit by Ben Revere who had a 1-5 day, and the sac' fly came from Chase Utley who hit 1-2 with a walk. As for the Braves they were only allowed 2 hits by Papelbon and Lee and they were singles by Justin Upton and Dan Uggla.

The Braves have won the series 2-1, but the Phillies ended it strong with a shut-out win. This is a much better game for the Phillies than before!

Valverde Sent Down

The Tigers Jose Valverde who two years ago had 30 saves without a blown save, and ended with 49 saves. He also had an ERA of 2.24. Well last year he had an ERA of 3.78 and he was 35 for 39 on save attempts, so this year he was given a Minor League contract by the Tigers.

This two year ago perfect Valverde has turned into a minor league pitcher replaced by Phil Coke. It's almost like Lights out Lidge the year he lead the Phillies to a World Series with 41 saves, then the next year having a 31/42 save year.

I think that Valverde has the confidence and skill to get back to the Majors this year, what about you? Post your opinion in the comments!

D-Backs take it in 16

The Arizona Diamondbacks didn't have an easy win, they sent 21 different batters up to the plate and used 7 pitchers. As for the Cardinals they sent 20 batters to the plate and had 8 pitchers on the mound in the loss. The final score was Saint Louis 9- D-Backs 10.

The game winner came off of a single by Chad Pennington one of his 3 hits out of 6 at bats. The Diamondbacks Gerardo Parra had 1 homer, 3 hits, 3 runs, and 1 RBI, he had quite a game at lead off. The man hitting behind him at number 2, Martin Prado had 3 RBI's and was 3- 7 at the plate. Josh Collmenter pitched the last 5 innings of the 16 inning game and he got the win for the Diamondbacks, he only gave up 1 run on 4 hits in those innings. The loss went to the Cardinals Fernando Salas who only gave up one run in his 2.1 innings pitched, but sadly it was the most important

This game chose who won the series and the D-Backs took it 2-1 games.

Cardinals' Linebacker Tests Negative

Middle Linebacker Daryl Washington of the Arizona Cardinals has been tested negative for a substance on the leagues banned substance list.

He will miss the first four games of the season due to this. He will be truly missed by fans and teammates, he had 140 tackles, 9 sacks, 14 tackles for a loss, and 110 solo tackles last year. He was also in the pro bowl last year at middle linebacker for the NFC's team. Also, he didn't just lead his team in sacks, but he lead the whole league for sacks by a inside linebacker with 9 of them. He also lead his team in tackles this last year and 2011.

This is just another player being caught on a banned substance, now the NFL is drawing some of the PED use away from the MLB.

Ware Reacts Emotionally

ESPN.com The Louisville Cardinals' Kevin Ware as most of you know has suffered a horrific leg injury and has started his recovery. Due to how fast he has started to recover he has been cleared to travel with the Cardinals to play the Wichita State Shockers in Atlanta. Ware has recovered so fast only two days after the injury occurred he was on crutches not a wheel chair.

Baseball Wrap Up

Cincinnati Reds outfielder, Ryan Ludwick, is expected to miss up to 3 months due to surgery on his right shoulder. Chris Heisey will replace Ludwick as the full time outfielder in left field. Heisey has spent the last couple of years as a replacement and he has a great bat, especially for the long ball. Heisey hit 3 in one game last proving his power.

The Rangers have had a great series with the Astros after losing the first game 8-2. They have not allowed a run to the Astros since proving their skill. Their skill was proved the most when Yu Darvish threw a pefect game until the 27th batter came up and wrecked it. The last The final score of this game would end, 4-0, Rangers on top!

The mayor of San Jose, Chuck Reed, has requested a meeting with the MLB Commissioner Bud Selig. He will discuss moving the Oakland A's to San Jose. This was denied 4 years ago, because the San Francisco Giants decided that they didn't want their to be too much competition for fans. I think it is a great idea for the A's to move their club from Oakland.

Kevin Ware- Released

The Louisville Cardinals Kevin Ware suffered a horrific injury in their elite eight game when he was contesting a three point shot. He was rushed to the hospital and now he is being released.

Kevin Ware said that now the hardest step in his recovery is complete, the first one. I have to say that I total agree that this is the hardest step and it will get better from here on out.

Ware left the hospital to everyone's surprise not in a wheel chair, but on crutches. Before he left the hospital today he tweeted "back to my brothers." Does this mean that he will be flying to Atlanta, Georgia to see his Cardinals play the Wichita State Shockers in the Final Four. Nobody is positive about this at the moment, but I think he will. Coach of the Cardinals, Rick Pitino, said that he would love to have Ware travel with the team.

Joe Theisman never played another game of football in his life after suffering a similar injury in 1985 on Monday Night Football. He definitely wasn't on crutches only days after the injury, so there is definitely hope for this young man.

Bryce Harper: Breaking Records

The Washington Nationals' 20 year old outfielder, Bryce Harper, has just broke the record for the youngest player to homer twice on opening day. Today he delivered two solo shots in his first two at bats against the Miami Marlins' Ricky Nolasco.

The first home run came in the first inning to right field sailing over the Out of the Park sign. The second bomb was just to the right of the first shot, but in the fourth inning.

The record was formerly held by Don Money going yard twice on April 8th, 1969 for the Philadelphia Phillies.

This will hopefully be the first of many homers for the youngster this year, and maybe leading to the M-V-P, which is what the fans at Nationals Park were chanting when Harper hit the second long ball.

Opening Day

Yesterday marked the first game of baseball in 2013, the first game was the Houston Astros versus Texas Rangers. Surprisingly the Astros took control and won by a score of 8-2, with the first home run of the season going to Rick Ankeil with a three run blast.

Justin Maxwell out of the Nationals farm system very recently had the first and second triples of the season with a 2-3 day and 2 RBI's. He has had some trouble in recent years, being sent up down from the AAA Syracuse Chiefs to the Washington Nationals and he has had a great start so far.

The win goes to the Astros' Bud Norris after pitching after 5.2 innings, giving up 2 runs, and getting 5 strike-outs I think he had a good day. Matt Harrison had giving up 5 runs in 5.2 innings and he had 9 strike outs, he would get the loss though. Erik Bedard came in and was lights out in the last 3.1 innings for the Astros. Bedard had 2 strike-outs and allowed only 1 hits, he deserved the save he got.
