The Wooden Award Winner is...

The Wooden Award was won by Trey Burke, who deserved it just as much as anybody else by taking his team to the final four. None of the other candidates did this. Also, he averages 19 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds.

He barely scraped out enough points to beat Victor Oladipo who was a very close second with 2,718 points compared to Burke's 2,808. Burke also has a record of 30-7 going into his game against the Syracuse Orange at 9:00 PM tonight. To get to this game he was faced with some hard battles, such as getting his team from down by 14 to a tie at the end of regulation. Plus, he was the man who made the jump shot to send that game against Kansas to OT.

Creighton's Doug McDermott finished third in the Wooden Award voting with a score of 2,344. Georgetown's Otto Porter and Gonzaga's Kelly Olynyk made the top five, Porter with 2,144 points, and Olynik with 2,079.

Who do you think will win tonight, Michigan or Syracuse? I think that since Michigan isn't used to a zone at all they won't be able to beat it and that the Orange men will beat another top team, like they did to Indiana and Marquette to get here. Post your opinion in the comments!

  1. Great story...I must admit I've never heard of the Wooden award.....for a young man you do a great job not only describing situations but explaining along the way!
