The Braves Grab the Broom

The Atlanta Braves have just taken their second sweep of the year after taking 2-3 from the Phillies. They just took the Miami Marlins down 8-0 in the final game of the sweep. This would leave the Braves with a first place NL East spot and an 8-1 record.

The Braves didn't have much help from the front of their line-up except for their replacement catcher Erik Gattis in his rookie year. Gattis hit a homerun on his first of the season and he has hit one in the past 2 games against the Marlins. He went 2-4 today and he had 3 RBI's, and his third homerun of the season.

As for the Marlins, their biggest player was their new third baseman and a career .300 hitter, Placido Polanco. Polanco had a 2-4 day with obviously no RBI's because his whole team didn't have any.

The starting pitchers today were Alex Sanabia for the Marlins who gave up 6 earned runs on 8 hits in 5 innings pitched. Mike Minor pitched for the Braves and he gave up 0 runs in his 5.2 innings and he gave up only 5 hits to the Marlins. He also, got a win today and Minor is now 2-0 on the season. The loss went to the Marlin's Alex Sanabia who is 1-1 on the short, developing season.
