Opening Day

Yesterday marked the first game of baseball in 2013, the first game was the Houston Astros versus Texas Rangers. Surprisingly the Astros took control and won by a score of 8-2, with the first home run of the season going to Rick Ankeil with a three run blast.

Justin Maxwell out of the Nationals farm system very recently had the first and second triples of the season with a 2-3 day and 2 RBI's. He has had some trouble in recent years, being sent up down from the AAA Syracuse Chiefs to the Washington Nationals and he has had a great start so far.

The win goes to the Astros' Bud Norris after pitching after 5.2 innings, giving up 2 runs, and getting 5 strike-outs I think he had a good day. Matt Harrison had giving up 5 runs in 5.2 innings and he had 9 strike outs, he would get the loss though. Erik Bedard came in and was lights out in the last 3.1 innings for the Astros. Bedard had 2 strike-outs and allowed only 1 hits, he deserved the save he got.

  1. I watched most of this game Sunday night and was happy to see that Houston was not intimidated by the Rangers who they will now play 18 times a season since being moved over to the American League...I hope they savor this win as I'm still thinking they are once again a last place team at when September rolls around
