Patriots Over Texans

The Houston Texans played in Foxboro against the New England Patriots.  Early on, tight end Rob Gronkowski went out with what looked like another forearm injury.  He is going to have another surgery on his forearm, ending his season.  Many Patriots were stepping up in place of Rob and Danny Woodhead.  Shane Vereen and Steven Ridley had amazing games.  With that help the Patriots went into halftime with a 17-13 lead.  The Texans did have a great end of the first half and had confidence on their side coming into the second half.  Surprisingly, Tom Brady and the Patriots came out strong in the second half.  Soon, Matt Schaub threw an interception and Rob Ninkovich read the play perfectly and returned it for a few yards.  This was also a big day for Aaron Hernandez who was filling in for Gronkowski.  Daniel Manning of the Texans had two great kickoff returns, one in the first half and the other in the second half.  He didn't get a touchdown on those though.  The final score was 41-28.  Tom Brady  was 25-40, 344 pass yards, and three touchdowns.  Two of them were to Shane Vereen.  Matt Schaub was 31-46, 303 pass yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.  Arian Foster had 22 carries 90 rush yards and one touchdown.  Steven Ridley had 15 carries, 82 rush yards, and one touchdown.  Finally, Shane Vereen had seven carries, 41 rush yards, one rushing touchdown, five receptions, 83 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns.  Shane Vereen is going to be a big offensive threat next week against the Baltimore Ravens. 1. Finally, a game went as I expected it would...after the Seahawks lost and I was 0 for 3 in my picks I seriously considered routing for the Texans thinking it would ensure a Patriots win....really good games all weekend. Losing Gronkowski is a shame but they clearly have enough weapons to overcome his loss....just a shame for him that he re-broke the arm again.
