Garza out for Opener

Matt Garza is probably best starting pitcher on the Chicago Cubs, the only player close to him is Jeff Samardzija who was probably as consistent as Garza with an ERA of 3.81 and a record of 9-13, while Garza posted a 5-7 and a very similar ERA of 3.91.

Garza is currently experiencing recurring pain in his back. He first injured the spot on Feb. 17 during the first week of spring training. The injury just got worse and Garza now is scheduled to be on the D.L for opening day and Jeff Samardzija will replace him.

"Now we know it is just time," Garza said. "We pushed it and pushed it hard. Everything felt great. Now it is the body saying, let's take a little more time."

  1. Ah.....an article on BASEBALL....fantastic, can't wait for spring training to be over and the regular season to begin....Being a true Phillies fan, we have a lot to prove to the league this year, and, as long as everyone stays healthy, we'll be in the hunt!!!
