New Offensive Cordinator
Florida State quarterback coach James Coley has accepted an offer to be the offensive cordinator for the Miami Hurricanes. Coley was originally a tight end coach until former quarterback coach Dameyune Craig left for Auburn. Four Florida State assistants departed along with Craig and Coley. Coley was offered $500,000 along with a full play calling ability. I can't wait to see the job Coley does for the Hurricanes!

A Great Off Season
The MLB's off-season has been quieter than it was thought to be. Now it has boosted up to expectations after a couple big contracts were signed.
The biggest one yet was All-star, Justin Upton agreeing to play for the Atlanta Braves after a career with the Arizona Diamondbacks. I'm sure part of Upton's influence was the fact that the B.J Upton, older brother of Justin will be playing in Atlanta as well. Upton's best strength is speed. He runs very well which helps when he is out covering ground in center field. He also can steal bases even though he only grabbed 18 bases last year. The real win in this deal though is Martin Prado packing his bags and heading to Arizona. Last year he had by his best year getting 17 steals and hitting .301. Plus he hit 42 doubles and 6 triples. Also with Chipper Jones retiring the Braves snatched Chris Johnson from Arizona. Johnson hit for an average of .281 and had 15 homers. The D-Backs will also receive pitching prospect Randall Delgado, short stop Nick Ahmed, third baseman Brandon Drury, and another pitcher Zeke Spruill.
What weakens the Braves though is the fact that they are not re-signing all-star out-fielder Micheal Bourn. So getting Justin Upton who can fill in easily for Bourn isn't that bad a change. Plus they will be missing their best two fielders and hitters. Martin Prado and Chipper Jones. On Arizona's side they have one of the best out fields consisting of Cody Ross, Jason Kubel, and A.J Pollick. Ross and Kubel aren't the best fielders, but they are great hitters. Kubel hit 30 long balls and 90 RBI's and Ross had 22 homers and 81 RBI's.
Predict if you believe the Braves and Diamondbacks seasons will be good with additions or bad. Post in the comments.

Upset Alert
The Duke Blue Devils would play what they thought would be an easy team the Miami Hurricanes , but they were wrong. Even though Miami has been on a defensive roll, giving up less than 60 points in their past 3 games. They would not hold Duke to less than 60 points, but their offense was amazing and they only ended up giving away 63 points to Duke. This would be the first win for coach, Jim Larranaga over a number 1 team. Also, it would be the third highest margin of victory over a number 1 team all time.
The key to winning this game would be holding Duke to 19 points total in the first half. While the Hurricanes put up 42 points. Which is 23 more points. Mason Plumlee was not slowed down a bit though, he had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Duke. The key to victory for Miami would not be held in what people would think, stopping Mason Plumlee. It would be a combination of Shane Larkin, Kenny Kadji, and Durand Scott. Scott and Kadji would both have 20 point games. Scott ended with 6 rebounds and 25 points. Kadji had 22 points, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Plus Larkin would have 10 rebounds to make a double double with his 18 points.

Struggling Lakers
Tonight the Los Angeles Lakers are going to visit the Memphis Grizzles. The Grizzles had a very thrilling game against the Indiana Pacers, although they lost. On the other hand, the Lakers are having one of the worst seasons in franchise history. Veteran, Kobe Bryant, averages 29.2 points per game and 4.9 rebounds. New addition, Steve Nash, averages 11.2 points per a game and a resounding 8.6 dishes a game. The other new addition, Dwight Howard, averages 17.1 points a game, 12.3 boards, and 2.5 blocks. Pau Gasol went out for a few games with a concussion, and when he came back head coach Mike D'antoni kept Pau on the bench. Pau is still listed on the bench for the game tonight. Pau Gasol is averaging 12.7 points, snatches 8.3 boards, and 1.4 rejections. The Memphis Grizzlies have Marc Gasol, brother of Pau Gasol. Marc averages 13.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks a game. Zach Randolph averages 16.2 points and snatches down 11.6 boards. Finally, Rudy Gay averages 17.5 points per game and 5.8 rebounds. I predict that the Grizzlies will come out on top in this game, but it will be close. My reasoning is the Lakers are on a skid and their frustration is going to build up and they won't be able to communicate to help themselves get better. After the All-Star Break though, I think the Lakers will have a turn around season, just like the Boston Celtics did last year.

The Boston Celtics have been looking for trades or big moves for their benefit. They have previously tried getting Russel Westrbook for Rajon Rondo, but that was years ago and Rondo is most definitely not be on the market.
For example, the Celtics have been looking for another big man to play with Kevin Garnett down low. Since the Celtics traded away Kendrick Perkins a couple years ago. Also they might not be able to make a trade because their roster is made up almost completely of older people with long contracts. Including Paul Peirce, Kevin Garnett, and the younger Rajon Rondo. Plus, Perkins's replacement, Jeff Green has not played well and I believe the absence of big men is the reason that this Celtic team has been facing a challenge of winning games. Their record is 20-21 and they are on a 4 game losing skid. Maybe if they can get a big trade to up their roster before the trade deadline in 4 weeks.

A "Block Buster" Trade
There is what could be the biggest trade of the whole season. Since the off-season not many players had switched teams. Also not many trades are going to top this one since it is later in the season. Now the Memphis Grizzlies have made a block buster trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The trade consists of future first round draft pick in Jon Leur.
The Cavaliers have made many trades since the leaving of now Miami Heat star, LeBron James. This time they are going after a big man in Mareese Speights. Also Josh Selby and Wayne Ellington will be packing their bags and fliing from Memphis to Cleveland. Speights has not been playing very well this season he averages less than 7 points and less than 5 rebounds. Maybe with more playing time in Cleveland that can change. Ellington and Selby are having the same types of slumpy seasons with Ellington averaging only 5.5 points per game and Selby is even worse averaging with only 2.0 points per game.

Top Teams
Yesterday the new polls came out for the best teams in college hoops. On Saturday there were upsets in the top 25 including the number 1 team in the land, Louisville, going down to number 6 Syracuse. Ohio State was number 11 and lost to number 18 Michigan State. Number 13 Butler had a miracle at Hinkle Fieldhouse beating number 8 Gonzaga. The thing that confused most people was that there were two number 3 teams; Kansas and Syracuse are tied for number 3. I think the most impressive performance this weekend was by the Syracuse Orange, led by Michael Carter-Williams who drained important baskets.
