Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are an old and battered up team right now.  Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger are out for the rest of the year, but the Celtics are still in the playoff hunt.  After an overtime thriller against the Atlanta Hawks last night, the Celtics have moved into the sixth spot.  Currently, the very famous players for the Celtics are Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.  The other player for the Celtics that is known around the NBA is Jason Terry.  These three players have managed to stay healthy and score.  Jason Terry is finally getting his form back and is draining three-pointers.  He is starting to consistently make threes, and that is helping the Celtics greatly.  Kevin Garnett is doing a great job of shooting and rebounding.  He is aging but is still scoring consistently.  Paul Pierce started the year  in a shooting slump, but is now coming out of it.  He used to take quick shots in traffic, forcing up shots.  Now, he is setting his feet and taking his time when he shoots.  These players have started to score and come out of their shooting slumps.  Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry have stepped up their game, resulting in more wins.  By Ameen I.

Major Trade Possibilities

The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers have been involved in many trade talks.  The Clippers are looking to send DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe for Boston Celtics' center Kevin Garnett.  Garnett has been linked to many trade rumors this year and this one is the most publicized.  Also, Paul Pierce is linked to many trades, along with the injured Rajon Rondo.  Rondo might be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Dwight Howard.  Kevin Garnett doesn't like much change, so it seems like he wants to stay in Boston.  If the Clippers get Garnett, then they will be a very good team and a very fierce team.  If Paul Pierce goes to the Clippers, the Clippers would benefit greatly.  They would likely trade Lamar Odom for Pierce and the Clippers will have a strong front five.  The Clippers would have Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, and Chauncey Billups as possible point-guards.  Kevin Garnett has a rare trade clause, meaning he would have to waive it off.  Lamar Odom is currently signed with a one-year deal and hasn't been preforming well.  The head coach for the Clippers, Vinny Del Negro, only has one year left on his contract and needs to take the Clippers far this season to get an extension on his contract.  The Clippers have not extended his contract yet.  The trade that will most benefit the Clippers involves sending Paul Pierce to L.A. for Lamar Odom.  By Ameen I.

Rivalry Trade?

There have been many trade rumors involving Dwight Howard, but this one has been the most interesting this far.  The trade involves Boston Celtics' point-guard Rajon Rondo and Dwight Howard of the Lakers.  Rondo is out for the rest of the season and possibly some of next year with a torn ACL.  Dwight Howard has been dealing with a shoulder and back injury.  Howard had back surgery this summer, and found his way to Los Angeles.  I think this trade will most benefit the Lakers for many reasons.  The first is the fact that Dwight Howard hasn't been able to stay healthy.  It is hard to grab a ball out of the air when you can barely move your arm.  Another reason is it will give rising star, Earl Clark, time to play.  Clark has been doing well this year for the Lakers, and it is diminishing the pressure on Dwight Howard.  The next reason is the Lakers will have another guard who can dribble, pass, and shoot.  If Rondo goes to L.A., then the Lakers will have three point-guards; Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, and Rajon Rondo.  Also, they will have youth and speed on their side.  Finally, there won't be was many off-court distractions and controversies.  The disadvantage for the Celtics will be that they won't have a star point-guard; it will most likely be Paul Pierce.  They also won't have youth on their side, making it hard to run up and down the court.  The Celtics would have to sub frequently.  I don't think this trade will take place though.  My thinking is that Rajon Rondo is going to speak up for himself and prove that he is a Boston Celtic.  By Ameen I.

Heat vs. Celtics.

Today Ray Allen is visiting his old home, Boston.  This summer in the offseason, Ray Allen went to the Miami Heat, and that hurt the Boston Celtics because Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were questionable to come back.  Now, Miami's Big 3 is going to visit Boston's Big 3.  Miami's best players are LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh.  The Celtics' best are Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce.  To start off, the Heat are coming off of winning a championship.  LeBron James is averaging 26.4 points, 7.1 assists, and 8.1 rebounds.  2012 was a great year for LeBron because he won the championship, won MVP, won NBA Finals MVP, got to 20,000 points, got to 5,000 assists, and won a gold medal at the Olympics in London this summer.  Dwayne Wade averages 20.8 points and 4.5 assists per game.  Finally, Chris Bosh averages 17.2 points, 7.2 boards and 1.4 blocks a game.  If these three can't step up, then someone else will.  One game, Mario Chalmers scored over 30 points, a career-high.  That proves how deep this Miami team is, and how much their front office does to get great players.

Meanwhile, the Celtics look like they did last year, tired and bored.  They look like the "Bad News Bears" right now.  Although, last year the Celtics had a great second half of the season last year, and I think that will happen this year too.  Rajon Rondo is averaging 13.7 points, 5.6 boards, and 11.1 assists.  Rondo has also had triple-doubles this season.  He is short, so 5.6 rebounds is a lot.  In my opinion, I think he is one of the best point-guards in the NBA.  Paul Pierce is averaging 18.8 points, and 5.7 rebounds.  This hasn't been a great season for him  shooting.  Kevin Garnett averages 14.7 points and 7.2 boards.  If the season ended today, the Celtics would be in the 8 seed, while the Heat are in the 1 seed.  This game will be on ABC and will be on at 1:00 EST this afternoon.  By Ameen I.

Celtics Looking For Big Moves

The Boston Celtics have been looking for trades or big moves for their benefit. They have previously tried getting Russel Westrbook for Rajon Rondo, but that was years ago and Rondo is most definitely not be on the market.

For example, the Celtics have been looking for another big man to play with Kevin Garnett down low. Since the Celtics traded away Kendrick Perkins a couple years ago. Also they might not be able to make a trade because their roster is made up almost completely of older people with long contracts. Including Paul Peirce, Kevin Garnett, and the younger Rajon Rondo. Plus, Perkins's replacement, Jeff Green has not played well and I believe the absence of big men is the reason that this Celtic team has been facing a challenge of winning games. Their record is 20-21 and they are on a 4 game losing skid. Maybe if they can get a big trade to up their roster before the trade deadline in 4 weeks.

A wild Finish

The Chicago Bulls are playing the whole season without their star point guard, Derrick Rose. One star they still have is Carlos Boozer who has been quiet, while he has been playing okay. Today he had his break out game. This 6 foot 9 power forward came in third in all scorers. He had 19 points and he also lead all rebounders with 20. It wasn't just Boozer who played well the Bulls shared the ball well enough that they had 6 players in double figures and 3 of them came off the bench. Including Jimmy Butler-13 points, Nate Robinson-11 points, and Marcos Belinelli-10 points. Belinelli was in fact the reason the Bulls won the game in OT because he made the go ahead shot with only a few seconds on the clock. For the Celtics, their only chance to win the game was with back up power forward Jared Sullinger who had 15 rebounds and Rajon Rondo had quite a game putting up a 30 point show, he also had 2 steals and 7 assists. The game would end with the Celtics on the short end 99-100 in OT.
