New Looks In the Top 25

There is only one word to describe this weekend in college basketball: Wild.  Number one Michigan went down to number 3 Indiana in Indiana.  Number 2 Kansas lost to unranked Oklahoma State.  Number 6 Syracuse fell to unranked Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh.  This weekend was wild with college hoops and the Super Bowl.  I think the team of the week is Oklahoma State.  They came to Kansas and upset Kansas, snapping the Jayhawks 33 game home winning-streak.  The obvious thing was that since Michigan lost, Indiana was going to take number one.  These upsets are proving that other teams are coming alive and out of the shadows.  For a highly ranked team to get upset, I think it is good because they try harder than ever to become number one. The team that upset a high ranked team starts to get too self-confident, so they don't try as hard and lose games.  Up next is the list of the teams in the Associated Press Top 25.

1) Indiana
2) Florida
3) Michigan
4) Duke
5) Kansas
6) Gonzaga
7) Arizona
8) Miami (FL)
9) Syracuse
10) Ohio State
11) Louisville
12) Michigan State
13) Kansas State
14) Butler
15) New Mexico
16) Creighton
17) Cincinnati
18) Minnesota
19) Oregon
20) Georgetown
21) Missouri
22) Oklahoma State
23) Pittsburgh
24) Marquette
25) Notre Dame                                                                                                                     By Ameen I.

Kansas Upset

Today there were two upsets including this game, Oklahoma State at Kansas. Number 6 Syracuse was upset by Pittsburgh earlier today, and shortly after Kansas was upset too. The Oklahoma State Cowboys snapped the Jayhawks 33-game home winning streak. The Cowboys were leading Kansas at halftime 40-34. This game would be mostly Cowboys. Kansas should have won this game, if they didn't allow this many points. The second half was much closer though. The Jayhawks actually outscored Oklahoma State 46-45. That wasn't enough to hold off the Cowboys, and the Cowboys pulled this game out. The final score was 85-80. Markel Brown led the Cowboys with 28 points and added 4 assists and 2 rebounds. Marcus Smart scored 25 points, led the team in rebounds with 9, and 3 assists. Smart is drawing national headlines, and is helping this Oklahoma State team. Ben LcMore led Kansas with 23 points. He also had 5 rebounds to go along with 1 assist. Jeff Withey had 8 rebounds, a team lead, and 11 points to go along with 1 assist. Kevin Young scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. I think Kansas would have won this game if they got more players into double figures. My prediction is Kansas will drop out of the top five. Kansas will come on hard after this loss, not wanting to have this feeling again. Oklahoma State is a dangerous team, and is sneaking up and drawing national attention. By Ameen I.
