NFL: Whats Going On?

The NFL has had a wild off season so far with, Dunta Robinson, Michael Turner, and John Abraham all being released from the Falcons due to budget cuts. Luckily Robinson found a home in Kansas City for a three year deal. This the fifth big move for the Chiefs after Branden Albert who got the franchise tag, quarterback Alex Smith was received in a trade. They signed receiver Dwayne Bowe and punter Dustin Colquitt to big contracts.

Steven Jackson will mot likely be devoted to a backup. So he denied his contract offered by the Rams and now is an unrestricted free agent.

For where I'm at, going into Year 10, I'm not ready to step back and just become a primary backup or a reduced role guy to be part of a running back by committee," Jackson said Thursday on Sirius XM NFL Radio.

Do you think that the 10,000 yard three time pro bowler should be a backup in only his 10th season when he is 29 years of age? Of course I don't, post your answer in there comments!

Smith to Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking for a quarterback and they got one from the San Francisco 49ers, Alex Smith. This surprised me because I thought that having Geno Smith from West Virginia would have perfectly fit Andy Ried's running and throwing mixed style of offense. Especially because the Chiefs would have had the first found draft pick.

Also, since Alex Smith has hardly played this season and he might be a little unused to playing and getting hit each week. Even though his career numbers show him as a good player with a 30-10 TD-Int. ratio. While the other contending quarterbacks on the Chiefs average 21-38 TD-Int. ration, the Chiefs current quarterbacks are Kyle Orton and Matt Cassel.

I predict that the Chiefs will not pick a player such as Geno Smith in the draft but, maybe a defensive or offensive line player. What do you think? Post

Reid becomes Coach of Chiefs

Andy Reid makes big decision to take the job with the Kansas City Chiefs. Reid will be joining the Chiefs after being the first coach to be fired of 7 on Monday. Reid is also the first coach to be hired.

Reid spent his whole career an Eagles head coach. His head coaching job lasted 14 years. It started in 1998 when Reid was still one of the better coaches in the league. But during the last few years Reid has lost his touch. Reid has lost the division 3 times in the past 4 years. So I believe that Reid just stayed in the league to long after he lost his touch. Because one thing I think is important in any career is to end it before you are given a bad reputation even if you had a great career.

Overrated?

Is the some say #1 QB prospect Geno Smith overrated?  I'd say so.  The Kansas City Cheifs have the first pick in the 2013 NFL Draft and are going to be searching for QB to repair their terrible offensive game.  A lot say that Geno Smith will be that guy.  In my opinion, I would try to go for someone like Colin Klein or Landry Jones before I use my pick on Geno Smith.
Don't get me wrong, Smith is a very athletic player with amazing football IQ and the abilty to use his legs to get out of bad situations.  He has also stuffed the stat sheet with 4,021 passing yards and 40 scores.  But one thing he did not do was lead West Virginia to wins.  They finished 7-6 after getting destroyed by Syracuse and their QB Ryan Nassib in the Pinstripe Bowl, who is another great prospect who has a chance at going first round.  I just don't see Smith being affective in the NFL, because if you can't lead a super talented college team to wins, then theres no way you can lead a professinal rebuilding team to wins.
What NFL team do you think will be a good fit for Geno Smith?  Write it in the comments!
